U.K.’s “Trojan Horse” Media Misdirection

Michael Gove accused of using ‘Trojan Horse’ row to push anti-Islam agenda

From: The Independent
By: Richard Garner and Oliver Wright, June 4, 2014

Michael Gove has been accused of cynically using the “Trojan Horse” schools row to push an ideological anti-Islamic agenda within the Government.

Whitehall sources revealed that behind the scenes the Education Secretary has been pressing David Cameron for months to widen the Government’s definition of Muslim “extremism”.

And they suggested that he has used allegations of a plot to “take over” a number of schools in Birmingham to press the Prime Minister to agree tough new measures to secularise schools in Muslim areas.

One said: “Michael Gove’s views are so incredibly black and white. It’s either his way or no way. He seems to think that anybody who strictly follows Islam is not really integrated.

“And he thinks anybody who holds conservative Muslim views is a bit of an extremist. He has been using Birmingham to pursue an ideological agenda that he’s had for many years.”

COMMENT/ANALYSIS:  This type of infighting simply deflects from details uncovered by the Trojan Horse investigations involving Islamic extremism in British schools.  Shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt probably said it best:

Instead of ministers rowing, we need leadership on how we confront the very serious and worrying reports about Birmingham schools.

The media has taken the bait and is now running with it.  The Huffington Post, frequently an Islamist apologist, has used this report to bolster it’s position that …

In all, 21 schools have been inspected after a letter, which is widely believed to be a hoax, referred to an alleged plot by hardline Muslims to seize control of governing boards in the city.

Huffington further states that three schools inspected over the alleged “Trojan Horse” plot  had been given a clean bill of health by Ofsted.   The article fails to mention that  at least six schools were  expected to be rated as “inadequate” and placed in special measures.  As for claiming a hoax, it should be noted that a school head apparently warned of signs of extremism four years ago.  A former Birmingham teacher stated an Islamic takeover of schools started over 20 years ago.

There’s a good chance that Muslim Brotherhood (MB) tied special interest groups are fueling the fire of the infighting coverage.  A June 3, 2013 letter published in the Guardian  that called on the rejection “Trojan Horse” reports included these signatories:

Salma Yaqoob – a U.K. activist whose bid for political office was backed by the Muslim Association of Britain, a U.K. Muslim Brotherhood Group

Arzu Merali – Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC).  IHRC is reported to be a strong supporter of  Hezbollah and frequently associates itself with activities of the Muslim Association of Britain.

Massoud Shadjareh – Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC).

Farooq Murad -Muslim Council of Britain – a U.K. umbrella group that has been dominated by the Jaamat-I-Islami and usually acts in concert with the Global Muslim Brotherhood.

Discrediting critics with claims of ideological motives (i.e. islamaphobia) has proven to be an effective MB tactic. Most of western society, especially politicians, fear any politically incorrect “phobe”  label.

To quote investigative researcher Stephen Merley from a 2013 Standpoint article  regarding the Muslim Brotherhood:

“Basically, they play games with the facts, And they count on the naiveté of reporters, academics and politicians to push their agenda.”

Alpha Lambda Mu: 1st U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Fraternity?

‘Brotherhood’ Portrays 1st Muslim Fraternity

CAIRO – Alif Laam Meem, America’s first all-Muslim fraternity, will be featured in an upcoming documentary, “Brotherhood: America’s Favorite Muslim Fraternity” to explore the successful life of young American Muslims.

“Through the experiences of these young men, this film explores the Muslim American identity, as well as the challenges of living by faith in a secular society,” the fratenity’s kickstarter website says.

“We’re happy to announce that by year’s end, we will have a collection of stories within this story that will be full of life and totally unforgettable.”

The project to finance the film started over six months ago to raise a required budget of $50,000.

The project was successfully funded on May 9 after gathering $53,721, allowing the fraternity to start the film that is expected to be released in 2015.

The film trailer was released last May, offering a glimpse of the stories Muslims share in the upcoming film.

Deemed America’s first Muslim Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Mu was established in February, 2013, at the University of Texas.

There are  plans of establishing chapters in  New York (Cornell is reportedly active) ,  Pennsylvania and Florida within the next year.  A preview of the above mentioned film is available here.  The Huffington post ran an article about about this fraternity in September 2013 and OnIslam had an article in Feb 2014.

COMMENT/ANALYSIS:   Not surprisingly, this fraternity is associated with the Muslim Students Association (MSA), according to Hares Sadat, the San Diego chapter’s adviser.   The MSA was created in 1963 by Muslim Brotherhood members at the University of Illinois.  As reported by the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Watch:

Key figures in the MSA, as well as others linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, went on to form numerous other organizations, many of which have been recently identified by the US government in court documents as part of the U.S Brotherhood.

Toronto Doors Open: the Da’wah and Jihad Tour

Proselytizing of a political or religious nature is not permitted during The Event.”
Doors Open letter of agreement

In a June 1st  column in the Toronto Sun, Tarek Fatah reported on the findings of  area author John Goddard who participated in the 15th Annual Doors Open Toronto event held last week in the Toronto area:

In his quest to discover Toronto’s past recently, Goddard participated in the annual “Doors Open Toronto” city-wide festival.

The tour offers what the City of Toronto calls “free, rare access to more than 155 architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across Toronto.”

Goddard discovered this year’s festival included many mosques, at least one of which had a unique and pleasing architecture, with a tall minaret.

The Doors Open site lists several religious locations as part of the program.  The event’s primary focus is on buidlings of  “architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across the city.”  Fatah reports that on arrival at the Islamic Foundation mosque in Scarborough, Goddard found  not so much a showcase  of the architecture of the institution, but a focus on free literature proselytizing about Islam.

The literature included a book by the late Islamist, Sayyid Mawdudi, founder of Jamaat-e-Islami – a Muslim Brotherhood organization.  The book is significant in that it reads:

… this word (jihad) is used particularly for a war that is waged solely in the name of Allah … This supreme sacrifice of life devolves on all Muslims.

Another location Goddard visited was the Toronto mosque known as “Masjid Toronto,” run by the  Muslim Association of Canada (MAC).    Researcher Tom Quiggin has identified MAC as one of the “examples of Muslim Brotherhood adherent organizations in North America.”  Cultural Jihad mentioned Quiggin’s recent report on the Muslim Brotherhood in North America last month.

Fatah contacted Julian Sleath, programming manager of Doors Open Toronto, and inquired why such literature was allowed to be distributed.  Sleath apparently acknowledged the book on jihad was distributed, but added: “In our Doors Open letter of agreement there is the clause: “Proselytizing of a political or religious nature is not permitted during The Event.”

COMMENT/ANALYSIS:  An additional Islamic location listed on the Doors Open site was the Islamic Information & Dawah Centre International

” Dawah” is proselytizing and appears to be the main function of this rather plain, store-front location shown to the left.
