CAIR Anniversary video features IPT’s Steven Emerson
On Saturday, September 27,2014, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) held it’s 20th Anniversary banquet in Arlington Virginia. This promotional video titled, CAIR 20th Anniversary: Islamophobia and the Civil Rights Movement, was featured:
The video starts with an attempt to link CAIR’s efforts to past racial struggles in America, a theme we reported on in CAIR embracing the race card: New focus or Exploitation?. As for “Islamaphobia”, we discussed this in The Islamaphobe label – trumping common sense.
At around the 38 second mark of the video is a comment by Steven Emerson of the Investigative Project on Terrorism. This was from an April 19, 1995 CBS interview pertaining to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Emerson says,
Oklahoma City is probably considered one of the largest centers of Islamic radical activity outside the Middle East
Emerson’s appearance in the video is preceded by the words “MISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN”.
With the current focus on the recent beheading murder by Alton Alexander Nolen (aka: Jah’Keem Yisrael) a few miles outside Oklahoma City, CAIR may have regretted using this clip to promote their agenda.
